Amber and I are at it again. We are trying to adopt once more. The last situation obviously did not go as well as planned so we were not looking to jump into the game again too quickly, just putting feelers out but not signing on with any agencies, but the Lord has placed an opportunity in front of us and we decided to go for it. My brother Mike and his wife summer actually put this opportunity in our path. The brother in law of someone in their ward is an adoption attorney. So Sum gave me his info and I called and talked to him for about 5 minutes, and sent him our website (nateandambervoorhies.com) and then did not think a second time about. Low and behold 9 months later he is called and telling us that he has an opportunity for us to adopt... and not just to adopt, but to adopt twin girls. WE WERE STOKED! We thought it through and talked about the finances and how we would accomplish it and decided that we were all in.

On to the next stage.

So Amber and I have a goal and we want to see if we can find a way to fund raise or earn the 40k that the adoption is going to cost between now and then! Big undertaking right? So this is where all of you are awesome friends and family come in. I am not going to ask you for any money or anything like that, just help. (Don't get me wrong if you are interested in donating to the cause we would love it, but don't feel pressured) There are six fabulous ways to help.

1.) We have a donate widget setup on our website through a paypal widget. You can see it at voorhiesadoption.blogspot.com. We would ask that any of you that have a blog, to help us by posting the donate button on your blog and doing a little post about us and the adoption, along with the widget. That would be super cool of you. I will be providing instructions on how to do this on our blog so stay tuned. Let me know if you are interested in doing this.

If the widget above is not working, please use the button below.
2.) For those of you who live locally, we are going to have a big yard sale in the middle of June, and we would like you to donate anything you can. We would be glad to come and pick it up if you make a stash of it and let us know we will swing by and pick it up.

3.) Again for the locals, we are collecting clear bottles and pop cans to recycle and make a few dollars that way. So if you can collect your cans and let anyone you know, know that we are collecting cans and bottles and that we would be glad to swing by every Saturday or every few Saturdays to pick them up that would be awesome.

4.) Give us any idea big or small of things that we can do to fund raise We would love to look into it.

5.) We will be providing little bottles to any that would like one for change. for the next three months if you want to collect any change you get and then donate it to the adoption that would be awesome.

6.) Introduce us to Daddy Warbucks, or anyone else who wants to put our donate widget on their page or help in any way.

We love you guys, thanks for reading this ridiculously post.

  1. I was at Panda Express on 5400w 3100s and they had a poster on there wall about non profit fundraising, they had little league teams, high school sport teams and then it had an open place and it said Your Fundraising Opportunity. I dont know any of the details or even if that would be something you'd be interested in doing, but I thought it might help. I think you can go online to panda express or go into the store to find out more. Im still collecting cans at work and from my moms school too.

  2. Awesome! We're excited for you guys and we hope it works out this time. We're moving in three weeks and we have some things that we were going to try and sell. I'll get in touch with you and maybe you could sell it at your yard sale?
